GATE 2026 Registration Deadline Extended – Apply Without Late Fee

IIT Guwahati has extended the GATE 2026 registration deadline. Candidates can now apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering without a late fee until the revised last date.

Earlier, the last date to register for GATE 2026 without a late fee was September 28, 2025. With the recent extension, candidates can now submit their applications for the entrance exam until October 6, 2025. However, the deadline to apply without a late fee remains unchanged at September 28. After this no-fee window closes, students can still register for GATE 2026 until October 9, 2025, but a late fee will be applicable.

Step-by-Step How to Apply for GATE 2026

Follow these steps to complete your application through the GOAPS portal:

• Visit the official portal: gate2026.iitg.ac.in (GOAPS)
• Register as a new user: Enter basic details (name, mobile, email) → receive enrollment ID, set password.
• Login using enrollment ID & password → fill in personal, academic, exam preferences.
• Choose the GATE paper(s) (you may get the option to select up to two)
• Select examination city preferences
• Upload scanned documents (photo, signature, ID proofs, certificates)
• Review & submit the form. Double-check all data.
• Pay the application fee online (net banking / debit / credit / UPI)
• Confirmation & status check: After submission, track status in GOAPS.

Documents & Specifications to Keep Ready

To fill in the application smoothly, have the following documents in digital (scanned) form:

• Recent passport-size photograph (as per specification)  
• Signature (in black or dark blue ink)  
• Valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID, Driving License, etc.)
